The Unbreakable Connection: Israel’s Role in God’s Plan for Humanity

In a world filled with turmoil and uncertainty, it’s easy to lose sight of the bigger picture. Yet, amidst the chaos, there’s a thread that runs through history, connecting past, present, and future – the story of Israel. Far from being a distant land or an abstract concept, Israel plays a crucial role in God’s plan for all of humanity, including you and me.

Let’s explore three key reasons why Israel should matter to every believer:

1. God’s Treatment of Israel Mirrors His Treatment of Us

Israel’s journey is a reflection of our own spiritual walk. Just as Israel has made mistakes and faced consequences, so do we in our daily lives. But here’s the beautiful part: God’s patience, mercy, and faithfulness towards Israel are the same qualities He extends to us.

When we look at Israel’s history, we see a God who keeps His covenant promises despite human failings. This should give us hope and assurance in our own relationship with Him. If God remains faithful to Israel through their ups and downs, we can trust He’ll do the same for us.

2. Israel: God’s Chosen Delivery System

Throughout history, God has used Israel as His primary means of delivering major revelations to the world. From the concept of monotheism to the giving of the Law, from the prophets to the Messiah Himself, Israel has been the conduit of God’s truth to humanity.

Consider this: The Bible you read was written by Jewish people. The concept of salvation, the practice of worship, the structure of religious leadership – all have their roots in Israel. Even the New Testament, often seen as separate from Israel’s story, is deeply connected to it. Jesus, the disciples, and the early church were all Jewish, and the pivotal events of the gospel occurred in Israel.

This pattern extends to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, which happened on a Jewish festival (Pentecost) in Jerusalem. The first great revival, where 3,000 people were saved in one day, took place in Israel. It’s a striking realization that nearly every major spiritual breakthrough in history has come through Israel.

3. The Key to Future Revival

Here’s where it gets really exciting. If God has consistently used Israel as His delivery system for revelation and revival in the past, what does that mean for the future?

The Apostle Paul, in Romans 11, provides a profound insight. He speaks of Israel’s “full inclusion” into salvation, suggesting a future time when a majority of Jewish people will embrace their Messiah. Paul indicates that this event will bring about “life from the dead” – a phrase many interpret as pointing to a great, worldwide revival.

This prophecy presents an incredible opportunity and responsibility for believers today. We’re called to “provoke Israel to jealousy” by demonstrating the love and power of their God. As we partner in this divine plan, we’re not just supporting Israel; we’re participating in setting the stage for global spiritual awakening.

The story of Jonah serves as a powerful illustration of this principle. Despite Jonah’s reluctance to preach to Nineveh, God sovereignly positioned him to deliver the message of repentance. Similarly, even when Israel has been disobedient to its calling, God has worked through circumstances to bring them back to their purpose.

Today, we see Israel regathered in their land, poised once again to fulfill their role in God’s plan. As believers, we have the privilege of standing with them, supporting them, and praying for them as they move towards their destiny.

This isn’t just about supporting a nation halfway across the world. It’s about aligning ourselves with God’s redemptive plan for all of humanity. When we understand Israel’s role in this plan, we gain a clearer picture of our own place in God’s story.

As we look to the future, we see that our connection with Israel doesn’t end with this age. The Bible speaks of a coming Millennial Kingdom where the Messiah will reign from Jerusalem for a thousand years. Even in the new heaven and new earth that follows, the center of it all will be the New Jerusalem.

From Genesis to Revelation, from the first revival to the last, from this age to the age to come – Israel remains at the heart of God’s plan. As believers, we’re invited to be part of this grand narrative.

So, what does this mean for us practically?

1. Study Israel’s history and God’s promises to them. It will deepen your understanding of your own relationship with God.

2. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for the Jewish people to recognize their Messiah.

3. Look for ways to bless Israel and the Jewish people, fulfilling God’s promise to Abraham that those who bless his descendants will be blessed.

4. Share the love of God with Jewish people you meet, remembering Paul’s words about provoking them to jealousy.

5. Stay informed about current events in Israel, understanding their prophetic significance.

As we embrace our connection to Israel, we position ourselves to be part of the greatest move of God this world has ever seen. We become active participants in hastening the day when “all Israel will be saved” and the knowledge of the Lord will cover the earth as the waters cover the sea.

In a world that often seems chaotic and unpredictable, this unbreakable connection to Israel provides an anchor of hope and purpose. It reminds us that we serve a God who keeps His promises, who works all things together for good, and who invites us to be part of His magnificent plan for the redemption of all creation.

Let’s step into this calling with enthusiasm, knowing that as we bless Israel, we’re aligning ourselves with the very heart of God.
