DAY 17 CORPORATE PRAYER FOCUS: Heal relationships.

DAY 17 CORPORATE PRAYER FOCUS: Heal hurting marriages and relationships.

I want to make something perfectly clear right out of the gate today. At StoryHeights we don’t put priority on one relationship status over another one. I want you to know that there is just as much time/energy/emotion/prayer/ministry/resource available for those whose status is “engaged” or “married” as there is available for someones whose status is “it’s complicated.” The one thing that none of us can avoid regardless of where we fall on that spectrum is being in relationships in some form or fashion. Whether that relationship is married, romantic, dating, engaged, friendship, sister, daughter, son, business partner, co-worker or Uber ride sharer no one (even the ones who try real real real hard:) can avoid being in relationships!

So what I want to encourage you in today are some #relationshipgoals that we all should shoot for as followers of Jesus. This is what the Apostle John wrote about what our relationship goals should be:

1 John 4:7-10NLT

7 Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.

8 But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

9 God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.

10 This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

I love how relationship is strewn throughout all of these beautiful words! I also how it shows what the Goal of all relationships should be. LOVE! They start with LOVE, stay with LOVE and are founded in LOVE. Any and all relationships you have now or will have later have got to be built on a foundation of LOVE, which according to 1 John 4 is a foundation built on God.

Here’s how we know it this is a lasting foundation. God cared so much about this relational foundation that he bet His Son’s life on it! And that through that great act of love — of real love — we can know what true relationship is not because we knew what love was, but because Christ showed us first.

Here’s my prayer for you today on day 17… that if you are in a relationship of any kind that is riddled with hurt, brokenness, unforgiveness, bitterness, anger, unfaithfulness, irresponsibility, ignorance or plain ole stupidity that today would be a day of healing for you. I pray that that healing would start with LOVE, stay with LOVE and be founded in LOVE! Love that can only come from Christ and a love that only is Christ.

Don’t let another day of relationship go by without brining back into or going forward without the love of Jesus. Because when that relationship is solid, the others have something to grow from.

Praying for you.

As a reminder, we are using the 20-day book study, Soul Food, by Havilah Cunnington of Bethel Church in Redding, CA, to guide our next 20 days, which will spark your own deeper studies with the Bible. This book is the perfect companion to your season of fasting. It looks at the spiritual food that God uses to fill our emotional and spiritual needs. You can order the book on Amazon if you'd like to go a little deeper, but below we will provide you the key thoughts from each day's devotional. There's also a 7-12 minute video that accompanies this study that we highly encourage you to log on and watch. This course is completely free and engaging! You can sign up for the FREE course here.

DAY SIXTEEN - Lacking to Bless

Once we know we are loved and we belong, we start to become. After we become, we have a deep hunger to bless. When we hang out with a miracle working God, we start to see those who need a miracle and we find we have a deep hunger to reach others.

We might not think we have much, but then Jesus says, "You give them something to eat!” He was not so much saying ‘meet their practical needs’ He was inviting them to a new place of faith; to take part in one of the greatest miracles of all time.

You have a desire to be great and you were born to do great things. But your good deeds alone won’t be enough without His power being allowed to be expressed through you.

When evening came, the disciples came to Him and said, “This is an isolated place and the hour is already late; send the crowds away so that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.” But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away; you give them something to eat!” Matthew 14:17–21 (AMP)

No matter what's going on in your life, remember God sees every detail. He's the Master Creator and He's in control. Surrender to that fact and rest. He WILL provide for you!
